Hello friend,

Spring is finally on the way, bringing with it colors, sounds, happiness, strength, and rediscovering what going out without a jacket feels like!

In the upcoming month, our voices will be the common thread: Aretha Franklin demanding respect, Audre Lorde refusing to be silenced, and women taking charge in AI and data instead of just watching from the sidelines. And as we celebrate Women’s History Month, let’s tip our hats (or raise our glasses) to the incredible women who have already made history.

It's indeed time to listen, not just because it's also World Listening Month. There are ways to be a great listener, and we're all ears if you have feedback for us!

Channel your inner poet

Ever tried your hand at poetry? If you love to be creative but rhyming isn’t your cup of banana smoothie, the app Wrdlr might just be your new best friend. With International Poetry Day on the horizon, we’re serving up some inspiration and recommending pieces from Mary Walker for a dose of tranquility and peace.

And who doesn’t need a little happiness in their life? We want to encourage you to visit the Eco Happiness Project for great resources on how to celebrate the International Day of Happiness. And spreading joy is even better when it includes the little ones!

So put your favorite reading hat on and let's get into our delicious banana bites together!

Blue Banana Bites this March

There will come soft rains and the smell of the ground,
And swallows circling with their shimmering sound.

SOUND BITE

Soulful Defiance

Aretha Franklin’s "Respect" is the ultimate empowerment anthem!
Did you know? Originally written by Otis Redding as a misogynistic piece to keep women submissive, this Queen of Soul changed the lyrics and with every note, she didn’t just sing; she declared that respect isn’t optional and made her version far more famous than the original!

TECH BITES

The Women Behind the Screens

We trust you know that women have been pioneers in tech from the very start. Thanks to their brilliance, we’ve got everything from computer algorithms and WiFi to caller ID and home security systems. Fast forward to today, and the number of women in tech is on the rise, fueled by women-centric initiatives and fairs creating their own spaces in this industry.

Having more diverse faces in the room is just the beginning. It’s important to consider how those individuals are shaping the tech landscape in 2026. As technology becomes more autonomous and powerful, who’s behind the scenes matters more than ever.

More women are breaking new ground in:

  • Ethical AI

  • Workplace accessibility

  • Sustainable innovation

  • Inclusive design

BOOK BITES

Stay Calm and Keep Reading

Struggling to keep reading? We totally get it! Why not gather with others for a reading session? You could find a Silent Book Club or a Co-Reading Space in your town (check Meetup!) or grab a friend for some body doubling on a lazy Sunday. Sounds like a page-turning good time!

If you don't know and love this awesome human by now, this is your chance! Audre Lorde is a Black feminist poet and activist who expresses in her well-crafted essays and poems from the 60s themes that are still relevant today. This book is a spirited rallying cry for the bold! Emphasizing the power of self-expression, she urges us to embrace our voices and challenge injustice. If you’re silent, you’re missing out on making change!

Katherine May invites us into her world, blending her experiences with autism and the wonders of nature during a long walk in a way that’s both heartfelt and relatable. She highlights the magic of connection and the beauty of vulnerability. Her reflections celebrate the vibrant energy that flows through every living thing, reminding us that being different is what makes life so wonderfully electric.

HOT BITE OF THE MONTH

Color Your Calm

In celebration of World Color Day, here’s a quick grounding exercise to help regulate that nervous system of yours! When anxiety starts creeping in like an unwanted houseguest, take a deep breath and get ready to play a little color scavenger hunt.

How It Works:

Look around your room and find:

  • 5 things that are black

  • 4 things that are blue

  • 3 things that are green

  • 2 things that are red

  • 1 thing that is round

Extra points if you name them out loud!

Why It Works:

This little game works wonders because it pulls you out of those annoying thought loops and back into the here and now. While your brain gets a new focus, your eyes scan the room, reminding you that you’re safe and sound. Nothing in sight is a threat, just vibrant colors!

We thank the artists of DC Studio for the image we used in this newsletter.

“Up through the brown and mold and clay,
In golden hosts they came;
The sunshine followed where they led,
And touched the world to flame.”

Excerpt from “Daffodils” by Anna Hempstead Branch

March’s awareness days are a vibrant fiesta celebrating inclusivity, well-being, and the beautiful tapestry of human experience!
